The touch interface is very slick. After a few adjustments of settings, the battery life on this thing is very long. When accessing the internet it's like if you had it on the palm of your hands. It's very quick on loading web pages.

Corsair CA-9011112-WW Vengeance 1500 Dolby 7.1 USB

Product Review

Corsairs foray into the gaming headset is a good one. The biggest complaint other than the general lack of sound quality you get out of most gaming headsets is "bass rattling". For instance, someone throws a grenade... a tank drives by and your headphones rumble and grind like a maxed out cheap stereo in a cheap car. Needless to say the 50mm drivers on the Corsair 1500 negate that common complaint. Highs are very nice and lows are decent. Nothing booming but crisp and balanced with the highs, voices come through clearly. Corsair includes a software set that is very slick and minimalistic that lets you tweak your EQ. There are plenty of sliders and options as well as panels to turn on and off Dolby/7.1. Under this pane you can also tweak each virtual speaker and create a custom 7.1 soundscape. Remember the best kinds of headphones are the most flat in terms of sound. This being so that the user can control the headphones to their liking. The microphone is good... tested on Skype and Ventrilo which both came back with thumbs up.

The headphones are seemingly well constructed with my only complaint is the fake metal construction. It seems to be plastic, or at least the lightest metal known to man. However, it still feels sturdy and no creaking. The pads on the sides of headphones cups are soft and help keep the phones off your ears. The braided cable is super long - and when I say long, I mean longest headphones cable I have ever seen. Someone at Corsair knows I keep my computer several feet from my desk. The pads along the top are nicely done and the Vengeance 1500 has a nice overall has a clean look. The headphones fit firmly on your head so they don't flop around when you look down or from side to side. They are a closed set of headphones so outside noises don't permeate. I definitely wore them for a six hour gaming spree with no problems other than some sweaty ears sometimes and a bit of tension from the stiff band.

These headphones are plug in play... you plug them in, Windows installs them and bam... ready to go. The only thing you might have to do is set them to default in your control panel depending on your sound card/mobo set up. The 3D aspect works in games whenever you plug them in. Once plugged in the headphone attachment controller illuminates blue with a "+,-" for volume as well as a mute button. I have had them for about a week or so and got to play them with several different games and am so far impressed with the overall feel of these headphones. I got these as a demo unit from Corsair.
4.5 out of 5.

Pro's
Good Sound - Closer to a audiophile headset.
No Bass rumbling!
Plug and Play
Comfortable with a long cable.

Con's
If you have a large head the tension on band may bother you.

Product Description

The 1500 Gaming Headset: intense, immersive sound for gamers who care about audio

Vengeance 1500 Headset

The Vengeance 1500's large diameter, extra-deep memory foam earpads are designed for comfort.

Vengeance 1500: Dolby® Headphone multi-channel audio built in.

If you have onboard sound, the Vengeance 1500 provides easy one-cable USB connection and Dolby Headphone technology that lets you enjoy multi-channel games the way they were meant to be played. Dolby Headphone is compatible with any game with 3D audio, and helps reduce “headphone fatigue” while delivering the accurate 360-degree audio imaging you need if you’re playing to win.

The results of obsessive audio engineering

Amazing sound

The massive 50mm drivers greatly reduce the overloading and distortion that can occur with gaming headsets that use 40mm drivers. You get more accurate sound reproduction (particularly for the all-important low-frequency effects). You hear more audio, more cleanly, and you get a competitive advantage.

Inline Control
The Vengeance 1500's illuminated inline volume and microphone controller is easy to grab without taking your eyes off the action.
Superior Comfort

The extra-wide, extra deep earcups don’t just help things sound great — they feel better, too. Customize your comfort with your choice of the included microfiber or synthetic leather covers. Both use memory foam earpads for a comfortable, reliable fit that conforms to the shape of your head without binding or pinching.

Intense, Immersive Gaming

The circumaural, closed-back design blocks distracting sounds and keeps your head in the game, and the extra-large inline volume and microphone control is easy to grab and use when the action heats up — you don't need to take your eyes off the screen.Whether you’re barking instructions to your teammates or chatting with old friends, you deserve to be heard. The unidirectional, noise-cancelling microphone is tuned to capture your voice loudly and clearly, while screening out distracting background noises. And, it flips out of sight when you’re not using it.

Corsair audio: a sound philosophy

Corsair audio: comfort, fidelity, and playing to win

At Corsair, we believe that you need more than just dramatic audio. You need the comfort that allows you to play or talk for hours without thinking about what’s on your head. You need fidelity that gives you a listening experience that’s not just immersive — it must also be true to the source material. And, of course, you need the detailed positioning and situational awareness that lets you play your best.

Apple iPod classic 160 GB (7th Generation)

Apple iPod classic 160 GBThe 160GB iPod classic from Apple is the stalwart anchor of the iPod line. Offering the most storage of any iPod, the hard drive-based classic puts up to 40,000 songs, 200 hours of video, or 25,000 photos into your pocket. The classic features a bright 2.5" LCD screen, which displays album artwork and song information when playing music. You'll be able to navigate through music using a standard playlist menu, or through the gorgeous Cover Flow system, which displays a virtual wall of your digital album covers on the iPod's color screen.

Navigation is achieved using the venerable Click Wheel interface, which allows you to scroll through music and playlists by rotating your finger across its smooth surface. Simply click one of the 5 controls -- the unlabeled center button, Play/Pause in the 6 o'clock position, Previous at 9 o'clock, Next at 3 o'clock, and Menu at 12 o'clock -- to work your way through the intuitive menu system. To turn the device off, simply hold play for a few seconds. A physical "Hold" switch is located on the top of the device, allowing you to lock the controls to prevent an accidental song change or volume adjustment.

The iPod works with Apple's iTunes software, included with every Mac and available as a free download for Windows, to manage your music library. In addition to syncing your music library between your computer and portable device, iTunes syncs your calendars, contacts, notes, and games.

Like most current iPods, the classic connects to a computer and other peripheral devices using the Dock connector. This opens it up for use with a world of peripherals, including speaker docks, Bluetooth headphone adapters, and more. It includes a Dock to USB cable, allowing you to sync and charge the device with your Mac or PC.

The integrated battery can provide up to 36 hours of audio playback, or 6 hours of video playback, on a single charge. You'll be able to charge the device to 80% capacity in as little as 2 hours, and to full capacity in only 4 hours.

The iPod classic isn't just a media player. If you delve into its "Extras" menu, you will find that it sports the aforementioned calendar, contact list, notes, and games. It ships free with 3 games -- Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike solitaire -- with more games available for purchase in iTunes. You can also set the iPod's time zone and create custom alarms for yourself. A sleep timer is available, allowing you to automatically turn the iPod off after a certain amount of time has passed -- as little as 15 minutes or as much as 2 hours. You'll also be able to access a stopwatch function, perfect for timing steeping time for the perfect cup of tea, and a screen lock function to prevent unauthorized access.

The Settings menu allows you to control all aspects of your iPod's functionality. You'll be able to use it to control shuffle and repeat functions, customize what items appear on menus, and adjust playback speed of audio books, perfect for those times when you only have a few hours of time to finish listening to the audio version of Anna Karenina.

The Settings menu also allows you to adjust the playback EQ, set the date and time, and control whether or not the iPod makes an audible 'click' while scrolling. You can also adjust music sorting order, LCD brightness, and set a volume limit, ensuring that you don't accidentally blow out your eardrums by setting the volume too high.

Triggering the iPod's Genius feature when listening to a song will automatically create a playlist from other music in your library that goes well with what you're listening to. You'll even be able to save a Genius playlist for future use, or create another if the first attempt isn't quite smart enough for you
The iPod classic's massive 160GB hard drive can store up to 40,000 songs, 200 hours of video, or 25,000 photos. If your media library isn't that large, you can enable disk use for the iPod in iTunes, allowing you to use it as a standard portable hard drive in addition to a media player
You'll get up to 36 hours of battery life for audio, 6 for video, ensuring that you can use the device for extended periods without having to recharge
The Click Wheel interface allows you to navigate through the iPod's menu system with ease. You can browse album art via the Cover Flow system, or navigate songs and videos by playlist, artist, album, genre, and more. You'll be able to search for specific titles and artists via an on-screen keyboard. If you're unsure as to what you'd like to listen, simply select the Shuffle Songs settings to take a randomized tour through your music library
The iPod's vivid 2.5" LCD display brings videos to life. From within iTunes you can purchase or rent movies, buy TV shows, and download video podcasts. They will be automatically copied to your iPod when you sync, allowing you to enjoy them at your leisure
Sometimes there's nothing like a good game to relax or tease your brain. The iPod classic ships with 3 installed games -- Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike -- but more can be purchased from the iTunes store. Every iPod game is specifically designed to be played using the Click Wheel interface
The iPod classic is a great way to share your digital photos with friends and family. It syncs photos from your pictures folder or iPhoto library on a Mac, or from your My Pictures folder, Adobe Photoshop Album, or Adobe Photoshop Elements software for Windows. You can display photo slideshows, complete with music and transitions, on the iPod classic, and output to a TV using an optional component or composite AV cable
