I bought this primarily because I wanted a reading device like the Kindle but with a backlight. I already have an Android phone so was familiar with the operating system.
Firstly, when I was checking out the details on Pandigital's site I wasn't sure exactly which model this was since the Amazon product description does not give much details (not sure where they got 72-70FW from. The correct model number from the back of the device is PRD07T10WWH7.
The unit is looks like new out of the box and comes with a stand, power adapter and usb cable. It has a quality feel and look and a solid feel. It is a lot heavier than the Kindle but actually I like the heavy feel. I find the touch screen quite responsive especially if you use a fingernail. There is an SD card to expand the memory. I'm glad it's not microsd as I can use the SD in my laptop to load stuff and then put into the Pandigital.
The unit comes preinstalled with the following apps:
- Barnes and Noble Ereader - found a site to get free ePub books so don't have to sign up for B&N but can still use the app.
- Web browser - full browser but does not support flash so videos won't play and that includes youtube.
- ES file explorer
- Officesuite - to read (not edit) documents
- Slide app store - this enables you to download applications. It is not the -Google Market and has limited number of apps.
- Music
- Photos
- Videos
This is my second device. The first one would not connect to WIFI. I called Pandigital and they said it would need to be returned. I bought from Amazon so return was easy. The second device did not scan for connections. I set the screen-timeout to 30 minutes and then it scanned and connected fine.
So far I am very happy with the unit for my purposes which are reading, photo viewer and light web-browsing. Battery life seems pretty good (I turn WIFI off when not needed).
